Buffet Steamboat @ Japan 23 BBQ Steamboat, Setapak, KL

 3-star2

Location: at CenterMart, Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, Danau Kota, across the road from Platinum Point, may enter through Jalan Genting Kelang or Jalan Usahawan

DSC02391

Steamboat is my favourite, it will be good with BBQ, and if there is buffet style BBQ Steamboat, then this will definitely

suit my stomach, because I can eat as much as I can without counting how much I should pay.

DSC02382

There are some fresh seafood, but I guess should need additional charge for this.

DSC00800

There were many different kind of snails, you can pick as many as you like.

DSC02386

Different kind of choices: Japanese tofu, white tofu, mushrooms, fish ball, flammulina, different meat like chicken, pork, lamb, beef, and some meats were marinated for BBQ.

Also had those we usually have for steamboat: sausage, ham, fish cake, prawns (not fresh in tank), oysters, etc.

Not only that, those who are too hungry and can’t wait for steamboat, there are some cooked foods here: shark fin, fried nuggets, fried meehun and mee, sushi, cakes, and fruits.

Each person entitled for 2 fresh prawns which included in your payment, will need to charge extra if you want more. Here are the prawns that were still in the fish tank.

Can you see how big and how fresh the prawns were. These prawns were still “jumping” inside the basket and you will need to be careful when putting it into the soup, because it may “jump” out of the bowl.

Getting started. You can take your own sauce, like chillies and soy sauce, but don't forget to take butter for BBQ and sesame oil for the steamboat.

Forum Seafood @ Boat Quay, Singapore

3-star2

DSC02774

We walked quite a while, searching for something simple for our dinner in the city of Singapore. Along the Boat Quay road, you will see there are lots of seafood restaurants and their staff standing roadside approaching customers. There were many tourist like us looking for foods while enjoying the view and lots of local people who had finished their works and enjoying their happy hours at pubs.

Most of the restaurants hard selling their foods and prices, even offering discounts up to 30% and free drinks, can you imagine how competitive along them. The crabs they were selling varies in type, but most of them sell Sri Lanka crabs, looks good but we didn’t try for this time.

We had decided to have our dinner at the Forum Seafood Restaurant which is located nearly at the end of the Boat Quay road.  I guess they were still having some renovation outside their restaurant.

DSC02780

Is kind of good view and comfortable here. We seated at the river side, is Singapore River side. In front are few well-known banks buildings, especially UOB bank, a Singapore bank which its buildings are huge.

Seafood Fried Rice

As that time was quite a late night, so we just had some simple foods as dinner. Quite fast in serving, but is quite small in plate. This fried rice was yummy, just a bit salty. Obviously, it had prawns, some meats, scallops, and others.

DSC02783

Fried Seafood Noodles

Fried noodles with seafood, quite a small plate as well. Inside this dish, had prawn, mushroom, scallop, fish meat, vegetable and squid. A lots of ingredients inside, but the sauce was too sticky and taste moderate.

We had been offer 30% discounts and free soft drinks for the first round, plus 10% service charge and 7% government tax, total cost us SD27.07. If not converting into Ringgit Malaysia, I think this is acceptable, but if you did convert to RM, then I will say is very expensive for just two small plate of “simple dinner”. It is better get more comments and suggestions online or from friends before visiting there again.

Airy Cafe @ Miri

Airy Cafe situated at lower floor of Boulevard Inn 富丽华酒店, just opposite the Boulevard Hypermarket.

The atmosphere inside the restaurant is good, tidy and clean, is comfortable to dine inside the restaurant. You can side inside the restaurant with air-conditioned and TV, or choose to sit outside the restaurant to chat loudly with friends. I have been there twice, and coincidently we had ordered the same dishes and having the same feedback: Roast pork rice and seafood fried rice.

The roast pork  RM 4.50, look quite nice, but disappointed to say that is not as delicious as I thought, the roast pork skin was too dry.

DSC00681

Roast pork rice with sauce served separately.

Seafood fried rice RM 6.00, as you can see, besides some small prawn, only green bean, egg, carrot, some chicken meat and corns, which are not seafood. Feel unworthy, it is more like simple fried rice rather than called as seafood fried rice, and it price a bit more expensive than other kind of fried rice. I am wondering how it’s simple fried rice will look like, only without prawn? However, the fried rice did taste good.

Meng Chai Seafood @ Miri

4-star2

DSC00604

It is kind of difficult to find a good restaurant during Chinese new year. Not many restaurant opening and even they did, surely there are lots of people. It was nearly 1 week after chinese new year, 3 of us had a thought to find something good to eat for our dinner. Passing by the Meng Chai seafood restaurant, I saw lots of people in the restaurant, and with its word “Teppanyaki  铁板烧) attract us. It was difficult to find a parking place there, because it located beside the road. We drove round and round the area, still unable to find a parking place. Finally, we just had to park our car far behind the shop lots.

After we sat down, saw that there were few tables still not yet served. Well, Teppanyaki styles I guess have to need to wait for some times for our turn. To order vegetables, you can just directly make your order to the waiter, and for seafood, you may go to choose the fresh seafood yourself.  For good is, they would tell us the price for fresh and frozen seafood, and give recommendation on dishes and the way of cooking. It not likes some other restaurant, try not to let you know the price and charging you a high price at the back or giving a bowl of seafood that is much enough for 3 persons. Feel this restaurant is kind of “honest”.

Surprising me lots are the foods, are extremely DELICIOUS. First of it was the River Prawn, a very big one, RM80 per kg, and as the recommendation given, ½ kg is enough for 3 of us. With Shaoxing wine and the freshness of the prawn, I even drink the prawn soup, what can I said --- OISHII (DELICIOUS) ~

Next was Babylonia . It was the first I ate this and bigger size than I thought. Is kind of fun to pull it out and will feel irritable if it’s tail break off while I pulling it out, leaving a big portion inside its shell, really want break its shell to eat it. It was delicious too, and very fresh, LIKE it.

Next was spicy octopus. Not bad, It quite good to serve with rice, but seems the spices had cover its freshness of the seafood. Opps...had ate a lot before I remember to take a photo of it.

DSC00603

Lastly, a plate of vegetable, to balance our meal.

DSC00595

All these dishes plus 3 bowls of rice and 3 chinese tea, cost total less than RM 100. Delicious seafood with affordable price, surely I will go there again, and more frequently.
