First Try on Lalapan @ Muara Restaurant, Miri

Recommended by a friend, saying lalapan at Muara Restaurant is super nice. Lalapan is originated from Indonesia and having eight (Lapan) dishes: Main dish(depend what you order), cooked green leave vegetable, cabbaged, long bean, cucumber, fried tofu and tempeh, and with some spicy sambal sauce at the middle, served with rice. The restaurant is located at Waterfront Commercial Center, behind UOB and CIMB area.

After trying it, what I can say is NICE ~~… I personally like the fried tofu and tempeh, and of course the main dish as well (chicken and fish), but really unable to accept the sauce because I don’t really eat sambal. Strongly recommend especially for those who never try lalapan before.

Sunday Lunch @ Boulevard Restaurant

Boulevard Restaurant located Jalan Pujut-Lutong beside a flyover, a big building where we can notice it easily. Previously I went there just for diam sum, but get to know that they also offering special price RM 9.90 per dish for lunch menu and seems have lots of choices.

A Nice to Chat @ Passion Corner, Miri

Passion Corner with its Chinese name “Bamboo Forest”, you will see some bamboo wallpaper and decoration inside the restaurant, making you feel like you are having meal in the forest, but not too impress me, haha. There is second floor where those with some numbers of friends or family can have wider space for gathering and dining.

Three Layer Pork Meat Set

This set come with rice, salad, appetizer, soup of the day and dessert.

Beef Steamboat Set

The steamboat is personal set with some vegetables and others like fish ball, tofu, etc which already been putting inside the pot when serving. The set also come with a bowl of rice, appetizer, salad, desert, green vegetables and grass noodles.

Special sauce, but I personally only prefer soya sauce for steamboat.

Tea

Overall, I do like the small personal steamboat set which look “cute” and fun to me. The price seem a bit high, I mean not affordable to dining here too frequently, but every set do come with lots of things so make it seems worth as well. One more point, the boss (I believe he is) is very friendly and nice service too.

Ling Garden @ Miri

 

Location: Krokop 10, Krokop wet market, pasar, Chan Furniture, Happy Garden, Krokop badminton court

Ling Garden located very near to the market, so it will be a little difficult to look for a parking place especially during morning. What attract me to this restaurant is its Hainan Chicken rice.

 

Hainan chicken rice set RM 4, with a plate of rice, chicken, soup and its chillies sauce.

Would like to mention on its chillies sauce, for those like spicy should try on it, because its chillies sauce really taste good. Hainan style chicken rice special with its rice, where they will need to sauté the garlic or onions with chicken oil, adding in rice and continue stir fried, pour in chicken soup and wait for it to be cooked. This is the normal way of cooking the Hainan style chicken rice.

The rice was soft, smell and taste good, with it chicken meat plus some of the chicken “juice”, this plate of chicken rice was really wonderful. Its soup was tasty but too monotonous, if there were some veggie inside the soup will be more perfect.

Chicken meat was soft and smooth, and you can see from the photos, all meats were “thick” enough, thus really worth to eat and yummy.

 

Bak Kut Teh was from another stall in Ling Garden restaurant. This bowl of bak kut teh was individual set, with mix of pork rib, three layer pork meat, intestines, liver, plus veggie and bean curd puff. How was the taste? Well, I would say moderate, not too impressive but still acceptable.

Something special here, its rice was served with fried pork fat and onion, Waooo.. looks crunchy and yummy to me. Yeah, really make the simple white rice more attractive and smell good. Although is yummy but advise not to eat too much of fried pork fat.

Having Cool @ Snow Ice

 

If you feel hot and would like to have something cold, try Snow Ice in the 100¥en Shop, where it sell Japanese foods and some groceries.

There are few flavours: Lychee, Coffee, Mango, Peanut, Green Tea, Strawberry, and Milk. For this time, I had try for the Lychee and Peanut flavours.

It taste smooth and in every bit you can also have the taste of the Lychee.

I really like this flavour. Plenty of crunchy peanuts with some chocolate on top, you can’t stop eating it.

Closer look into the ice, you can see the ice was shaved into slices.

Every cup of snow ice for just RM 4.90, for extra RM 1.00, you can have additional fruits on it. For girls, you don’t need to worry your weighing scale, as this Snow Ice is non fattening but healthy and tasty. Now, everyone can enjoy the delicious of ice.

RAMEN TEN @ Harbour Front Centre, Singapore

There are many restaurants inside the Harbour Front Centre, and Remen Ten Restaurant attracted me was its promotion signboard: “Buy 1 Get Another 1 for FREE” — Order any set of Japanese/ Western set meal, free one bowl of Ramen.

Tidy and nice decorations inside the restaurant, mainly in red colours.

 

Norwegian Salmon  SD 15.90

Norwegian Salmon set meal, one piece of salmon with some crispy fries, plus a bowl of Japanese rice and milky miso soup that had taste of milk.  Grilled salmon with some laver on top of it, taste yummy and smell good, especially with its sauce.

Scallop Miso Ramen

There are two big scallop in this bowl of ramen, make it irresistible. Besides scallops, there are boiled egg and bean sprouts.
