3-star2

Restoran Chin Hiong located just besides the road, between the Petronas and Caltex petrol station, and it has some distance from the center of Rawang town. There were just few customers on that day we visited, so we didn’t need to wait long after made the orders.

招牌蒸鱼(木耳金针蒸)Steam Fish --  RM 20

It is the restaurant's signature dish, steam fish with  lily and Jew’s ear fungus, plus some wolfberries and smell of wine. I kind of like this fish, as it seem can nourish our skin and good for our health.

螃蟹扒豆腐   Crab meat with tofu  -- RM 12

Tofu is smooth tender and some crab meats which is my favourite.

富贵菜 Wealthy Vegetables  --  RM 12

Firstly, when this dish is served, we smell something like urine, thought there was some bamboo shoot in the dish, but nothing like bamboo shoot found. After complain to the cook, they serve us another plate again. This was fresh and sweet, tasty without the smell of urine.

Restaurant Dragon Waterfront @ Rawang

1-star3

Restaurant Dragon Waterfront, situated inside Rawang residential area, need to drive through house area, only you noticed the restaurant.  So, how we found this restaurant? Actually we were attracted by its banner at the roadside, so we thought to give a try. I guess it was just newly open.

The restaurant seems quite special; it is wooden structure and has a small fish pond at the back. Although its environment seems lovely, but we smell some urine smell once in a while, I guess is from the toilet nearby.

Little fish pond

Despite the unpleasant smell, let’s see how the foods are:

Ha Kou (Small) – fried mantis shrimp with salted egg       RM 12

Did not taste anything like prawn or shrimp, just rough and thick flour plus some salted egg

DSC00635

Steamed Chicken (Small)              RM 28

Smell herb, moderate rating

DSC00638

Hong Kong Choi Yun (Small)        RM 10

Although we ordered small, but it seems too little for that price

DSC00637

He Bai Beancurd (Small) – Fried own made tofu / bean curd and pours some minced meat sauce              RM 10

This was the most satisfied dish for me. Taste good, the tofu is soft and the sauce is good.

DSC00636

Fresh Water Alitia Fish –  Chaozhou steam fish      RM 24

Taste was a bit pale

DSC00640

White rice           RM 1.20 / bowl

Personally feel that the price for a bowl of rice is slightly expensive in Rawang area.

The restaurant is also charging 5% government tax.

Overall, not having good experience there, because the price was not cheap but the foods were not able to satisfy us.

Personal comment: I personally do not like waiter/waitress standing beside and waiting for me to collect my change after I have paid.

Marina Bay Seafood

Went there for few times but never try to dine in the restaurant – Marina Bay Seafood Restaurant, from its outside it looks like a high expense restaurant, worry that it will cost high for one meal. Recently family came to Miri to visit us, so we thought to have a try in this restaurant.

No matter inside or outside the restaurant, it show its gorgeous design and decorations, some kind like Thailand or Malay culture. It serves not just Chinese cuisine, but also has another set of Italian menu foods.

Get ready to start eating

Surprisingly, the dishes are not that expensive that I though, of course if comparing with small restaurant outside, It a bit higher price. All these dishes plus one pot of Jasmine tea, 5 bowls of rice, 2 plates of snack, and 5% service charge, cost us total RM 92.93.

Well, It kind of enjoying eating there, especially if you choose to sit at the open sea view balcony seats, where you can hear the sound of wave, smell of the sea and enjoy the sunset. One thing to mention: advice not to look up as you will see lots of spider web stick on the lamp and roof. The restaurant should be caution on this.
